Creating a “cat eye” is one of the most commonly requested makeup tricks I hear from clients, and while the look definitely makes a big statement, the technique couldn’t be easier. The mod trend is everywhere this fall, and if you’re hesitant to go full-on 60’s, the cat eye is a way to give a nod to the style without going over the top. - I like to start with a shadow (MAC eye shadow in Carbon) and dampened angled eye liner brush for better control, and then follow up with liquid liner. An eye marker or pencil work too if that’s what you’re most comfortable with.
- Start with a neutral shadow on your lids to really let the eye liner pop. Starting in the corner of the eye, lay the brush against the lash line and make small brush strokes down and toward the lashes — this way you aren’t trying to conquer the entire eye in one stroke. At the outside corner of the eye, gently lift your brush with a slight “flick” to get that famous wing. Tip: When starting out, keep the lines subtle. You can go over your work and thicken it once you have your base line.
- For added drama, go back over the entire line with either a liquid liner or marker to make it super dark
- Once you’re finished, you can use your angled brush to smooth out any corrections.
