I must admit that I secretly consider Tuesdays to be the most un-fun day of the week (anyone with me?), but today’s announcement is actually making me giddy: say hello to Jen Pinkston, blogger, stylist extraordinaire and the newest contributor to join our team. If you’re already familiar with Jen’s work, then you get why we’re so excited… the girl has got great taste and a killer portfolio to back it up (and she’s the sweetest ever, I might add). She’ll be stopping by once a month to put her signature spin on the latest trends and inspire us with her fabulous styling and real-life outfits…and to top it all off, photographer Denise Crew will be snapping all the action. We can’t wait to kick things off, so without further ado, a few words from Jen:

‘Juxtaposition’ is by far the most over-used word in my styling vocabulary, but I use it for good reason! For me, juxtaposing casual pieces with more elegant ones is what keeps a look feeling authentic and effortless, not overdone. Currently, I’m totally crazy about this J Brand denim jacket. Unlike the denim jackets of my youth, this one is uber-soft and form-fitting, which keeps it from being boxy and unflattering. This particular day I was headed down to the flower market bright and early to buy some fresh blooms for the weekend, followed by a little prep work for a photo shoot and a lunch meeting at Joan’s on Third. By juxtaposing the faded denim with these white silk pants from Anthropologie and sparkly Givenchy earrings, the look was perfectly appropriate for everything on the day’s agenda. Of course I still needed a little pop, so I layered a bright green top under the jacket, grabbed my brightest bag, and was on my way!

These earrings are a little more over the top than what I would normally wear, but when I saw them I knew I had to have them! I love the way they add an element of interest to really casual pieces like my J.Crew chambray shirt.

Cocktail rings are by far my favorite accessory right now! I don’t think a day goes by that I am not wearing one. My collection ranges from Forever 21 to irreplaceable family heirlooms and everything in between.
