Hi friends! Ana here with the May edition of Pulling It Off, and today we’re discussing a topic near and dear to my heart: finding the best frames for you! As a glasses-wearing gal myself, I love finding new frames that flatter, and I’m always on the hunt for cute new pairs. For this shoot, I’ve teamed up with my friend and photographer Kate and my favorite lens maker Lookmatic to put together three of my current favorite looks. Wanna see?
Oh, the classic tortoiseshell! Avery is wearing Lookmatic’s Slims in Tortoise, and I love these frames for their old school charm and versatility. For this look, we gave Avery an all-American wardrobe and buttoned her up in a red, white and blue plaid top and a classic trench (get a similar one here). I asked Avery to wear her trademark lipstick, Violet Fatale by Tom Ford, because I knew the pop of deep berry would look great against the darker frames.
My friend Leigh always wears the cutest clear glasses, so when I saw the Bel Air frames in Pale Pink, I knew I wanted to see them on her. The subtle pink color adds a really sweet touch to her soft, modern look, don’t you think? We kept her in simple makeup so the glasses were the star of the show, and I think that more natural look is perfect when your spectacles have a hit of color to them.
I love that these particular frames come in eight different colors—at $95 including your prescription, you can treat yourself to two!
I love these big, over-sized frames on darling Kate! Kate’s the kind of gal whose effortless, tomboy style makes you want to wear jeans and a tee shirt at all times because she makes it look so good. Her long hair and a fitted leather jacket helped to give this look the right masculine/feminine balance, and we lined the inside of her lids with brown eyeliner so they would pop under the frames. That’s actually my favorite trick for when I’m wearing glasses but I still want to feel a bit girly—have you tried it? Here’s a great tutorial from The Beauty Department on how to get it just right.
Kate is wearing The Woody frames in black. One of my favorite things about Lookmatic is that most of their frames, like these, are unisex so they work on girls and guys. How great is that?
Now I have to know: do you wear glasses? Which one of these is most like your style?
