Hi friends! Ana back with this month’s Pulling it Off and today we’re solving a perplexing wardrobe conundrum: how to style printed pants. I love printed pants because they feel a little dressier than classic denim, but come with all the ease of everyone’s favorite bottoms. With the help of J.Crew style guru Emily and wonderful Wynn Myers, I’ve got all the tips and tricks you need to  invite this new staple into your wardrobe. Here we go!

The biggest tip to remember when wearing printed pants is to pair them with solid colors. I love pattern on pattern with shorts or miniskirts, but because pants take up much more surface area, if you pair them with a printed blouse that’s a lot of pattern. It can be done, but I prefer a solid top with printed pants and a fun pair of shoes.

And how gorgeous are these cocktails from Weather Up? It’s one of my favorite places in town to get a drink because of the beautiful interior and delightful concoctions. A must-visit if you come to Austin! Their patio is perfect for cool nights and the inside is ideal for balmy summer days.

Both pairs of pants we chose for Emily are in a neutral palette: navy and white and black and white. These make for versatile pieces since they can be paired with a number of colored blouses and t-shirts. As an example, we put Emily in a grey t-shirt with her geometric printed pants and then a dressier green blouse with the animal printed pants.
