Happy New Year lovely readers! In addition to my resolution to try the 5-Piece French Wardrobe this year, I’ve been thinking about making some changes in my home. When I moved into my apartment I gave my best guess as to what layout would work best for me, and it can be very easy to get attached to that first iteration. But what better time than the New Year to reassess what’s working – and what’s not.

This can be big changes such as switching the living and dining room (which I’m considering!), but it can also be smaller tweaks like changing up a gallery wall. If you’re accustomed to arranging your furniture symmetrically, you could try experimenting with asymmetry. I’m feeling inspired by the asymmetrical way the frames are hung in this bedroom, and the unexpected way the rugs are placed. What new changes are you going to make in your home this year?

marble throw pillow – These marble pillows are currently at the top of my wishlist. And throw pillows are a great bang-for-your-buck way to make a change at home.

orange border pillow – I read that this Serena and Lily bedding feels like a luxury hotel bed. Maybe this is the year to invest in nicer sheets!

wall sconce light – Wall sconces are a space saver for your night stand, and I love the vintage feel of this one.

gray over-dyed rug – I never would have thought to place my rug off center the way it is in the inspiration image, but it works!

serge gainsbourg & jane birkin print – I first fell in love with this photo when I saw it in Eva Chen’s office, it definitely gives a room that je ne sais quoi.

shelves – Those glass doors are to die for, but this bookshelf has very similar lines – and at just $70, the price is right.

upholstered ottoman – The orange headboard gives a gorgeous dose of color to the bedroom. An upholstered bench at the end of the bed would create a similar effect.

kilim shoes – Don’t these loafers look perfect for traipsing around your fresh new space?

Love the placement of the rugs. Bedrooms can be challenging as far as throw rugs/area carpets go. This is great inspiration to think outside the box.
