There is something so inexplicably appealing about the look of two twin beds side-by-side… perhaps it stirs up memories of childhood sleepovers, or maybe it’s just the pleasing symmetry of it all. Cristina, here. I’ve always loved this look for a guest room, and with summer travels in full swing, there’s no better time than now to think about sprucing up guest accommodations. Luckily, you don’t have to break the bank with matching Hermès throws to bring this look home. The pieces in this space are so simple they can be found on a budget — it’s really all about the symmetry to truly make the greatest impact!
bedsheets – Whether you’re working one bed or two, skip the prints, patterns and colors for this look. The bedding in our inspiration photo is simple, clean and inviting.
dot painting – These headboards are totally swoon-worthy, and could make for quite the DIY project if you hung black fabric at the head of each bed. Another option (which is easier, and just as effective) would be to hang identical artwork above each bed. These dot paintings echo the spotted ceiling in our inspiration photo (such a fun touch!).
rope light – When working with monochrome, texture is your best friend. Unexpected textures like this rough rope can create variety when your palette is so uniform. You can really get creative with these rope lights because you can hang, tie and drape them however you like! Whichever light fixture or lamp you go with, just make sure to buy two.
linen pillowcase – The dark piping on these pillowcases looks smart, but the linen fabric is casual.
numbered toothbrushes – Just in case your guest forgets their toothbrush, it is always a good idea to have a few spare ones on hand. These numbered toothbrushes make it easy to tell them apart – genius!
iPhone dock – Could there possibly be a cuter way to charge your phone? Place this book on the bedside table for guests to recharge while they sleep. This is brilliant piece has me inspired to dig up my own hard cover Nancy Drews.
vintage alarm clock – This vintage alarm clock would make a sweet addition to your nightstand, and it works!
side table – Give guests a place to lay their glasses, phone, and book when they go to bed – a bedside table is a must-have piece.
throw – Sure, we’d all love to have a pair of Hermes blankets to throw across the end of the bed. But this striped throw from Ikea is bold, graphic, and will do the job just as well for a tenth of the price.
