I don’t know when it happened, but at some point the word “beige” became synonymous with boring, and as a self-proclaimed neutrals addict, I take offense! Sure, neutral colors may not knock you off your feet the way jewel tones tend to do, but do you really want to be knocked off your feet every time you come home? This dining room belongs to fashion blogger Rumi Neely of fashiontoast, who is a master at mixing white slip dresses with shearling coats and making it work, and her interior design sensibility is no different. Keep reading to see how to bring this look home.

chair – Geometric shapes and patterns can give whites a modern and dynamic look. And it’s always easier to mix patterns when you’re working with a monochrome palette.

constellation napkins – I want to throw a dinner party just so I can entertain with these linen constellation napkins. They also make an excellent housewarming gift.

planter – I’ll admit to being a color-phobe sometimes, but plants and foliage always feel like a safe way to experiment with color. If you feel like your neutral space is missing something, plants are guaranteed to inject organic lines and color into a room.

teapot – It was very difficult, but I managed to abstain from including any marble in this post. As much as I love marble I’m forcing myself to try new finishes, like this cracked ceramic teapot.

framed textile – The large framed textile in the inspiration photo is a statement piece and a definite splurge, but you can frame any piece of fabric that you love! Textiles are an often overlooked art form and look beautiful when framed.

ladder – The inspiration photo has a gorgeous wooden dining set, but if you’re looking for other ways to incorporate wooden accents into your dining room an interesting accent piece like this ladder.

baskets – Did you know Lauren Conrad is selling handmade artisan baskets these days? They’re fair trade, reasonably priced and come in all shapes and colors.

Yes Crate and Barrel, I was surprised too! It can be used in the bathroom to hang towels but I think I’d move it around to different rooms (as I tend to do). 🙂

Love the neutral color theme with the silver/cool pops of color for contrast( the chandelier and the frame)…gives it a great over all look!

They’re the type of thing I’d buy as a gift and then want to keep for myself.
