Monochromatic Monday :: Memorial Day BBQ

Um…is it really Monday already? We stumbled in the door late last night after catching two flights to get home from San Diego. It felt amazing to sleep in my own bed after a week of traveling…but I’ve gotta be honest – I could have definitely used a couple more hours. I suppose my cappuccino and a long to-do list will carry me through today as I’ve got lots of catching up to do, and determined to accomplish it all before the three-day weekend coming up. Oh yes, Memorial Day is upon us! I love that it’s the kickoff to summer – the first day of the year that many of us fire up the grills, break out the white linen pants and dip our toes in the pool. We’re hosting a little barbecue with a small group of friends to celebrate the long weekend and the day before my birthday, and I’m gathering inspiration from my favorite images in shades of red, white and blue (did you catch Chanel’s roundup of Memorial Day pinterest picks?) Bandana prints, strawberry pie, gingham picnic blankets, icy cold bottles of coca-cola, piles of seafood waiting to be boiled and of course, a perfect striped t-shirt are some of my favorite symbols of americana . What are all of you doing to celebrate? Hope you’re having a lovely start to the week, and don’t forget to pop by later today for our latest installment of Photography School
