There’s probably no party theme I love more than a fiesta – bold, saturated hues combined with lush flowers and folkloric embroidery; platters of tacos piled high with fresh corn tortillas & guacamole served with pitchers of margaritas. Cinco de Mayo is this Saturday, and since it also happens to be my little sister’s birthday, we’re having family and out-of-town friends over for an evening celebration around the pool. This board was inspired by the more-is-more aesthetic spotted in Mexico’s border towns, with swaths of printed fabrics layered on the table, energetic jolts of hot pink and tangerine and bunches of carnations piled imperfectly into mismatched containers. Makes you want to don a señorita dress and break open the tequila, right? Oh, and later this week, we’ll be sharing a recipe for the best fruity sangria, along with a couple crafty ideas for making your Cinco de Mayo extra festive this year. How are all of you planning to celebrate?
