This weekend marked the first few days that have actually felt like summer to me, and thanks to temperatures in the mid-nineties, I’ve got a mild sunburn to prove it. People gripe about the heat in Texas, but as a native I have to say that I relish every moment of blazing sun (crazy, I know)My only complaint: I wish I had a beach nearby. Austin has its fair share of watering holes, but there’s nothing quite like the feeling of ocean air and the smell and taste of saltwater. I consider the season a failure if I’ve let it pass without making at least one trip to the beach, and in my dreams, the vacation takes place somewhere along the Mediterranean with a sailing trip on the itinerary. Currently that notion remains a fantasy, but today’s inspiration board is getting me one step closer. Hope that it’ll help you get into a summery state of mind too, and if you’ve got an enviable vacation on the calendar, I’d love to hear all about it in the comments section!

Hi Chanel – what a brilliantly curated selection of images. All i can think now is I neeeeeeed a holiday! My husband is in Texas for work at the moment and he said it is super hot. Since I’m stuck in rainy old England, I would give anything for 30 minutes sunshine! We’re off to Portugal for a long weekend at the end of June, and I literally cannot wait!

My husband and I will be traveling with our 2 yr old to France this summer. We’ll be visiting my husband’s family first in Skopje then make our way to St Tropez, Cannes and Monte Carlo. I am thoroughly excited for this trip! Thank you for sharing this inspiration board. Definitely got me to a “summery” mood!

Just got back from Orange Beach,AL. It was wonderful…. uncrowded, cool & sunny, great sea breeze…… sitting under an umbrella on one of the Florabama’s decks eating a shrimp poboy and drinking margaritas…. the best!

My favorite beach adventure ever was in Corsica in the city of Bonifacio. It was quite hard to reach without a car and in the off-season, but well worth it. The views from houses perched atop cliffs and looking into the bright blue sea towards Sardinia were breathtaking!
