Okay guys…it’s the 30-day countdown until baby! Can’t believe we’re so close to welcoming our little girl into the world, and I have to say that I’m already proud of her for having made it this far, growing stronger and more ready for the world week-by-week (she currently weighs in at about 5 1/2 pounds!) In preparation for her arrival, I’ve finally put the finishing touches on her nursery, and walking through the doorway feels like the cozy, safe haven that I dreamed of – hopefully providing a sense of calm that helps her sleep through the nights! It’s been so fun sharing this process with you guys, from the early days of gathering inspiration…to the in-progress planning and decorating…and finally to sharing the finished product! I want to give a special shout-out to Serena & Lily for being such amazing partners along the way, providing invaluable planning tips and inspiration for creating the nursery that’s a perfect reflection of our little family. So without further ado… click through the images (shot by Chad Wadsworth) to see how it all came together!
Working from my original inspiration board, I set out to create a calming oasis in a neutral palette with lots of little feminine flourishes.
I love this initial view through the arched doorway – the monochromatic palette is so serene, while all the textural details make it feel super cozy.
The spot where I’m *hoping* baby girl will spend many sleep-filled nights! I dressed the dreamy upholstered crib with Serena & Lily’s nursery basic bedding collection in white, then softened up the look by draping a soft quilt over the railing. When working in such a neutral palette, using a mix of textures (like the flokati rug, linen upholstery, plush quilting and woven basket) adds so much interest to a room.
The carvings on this chakki add an exotic touch to the space, and I love that this piece can double as a footrest when I’m using the glider or as extra seating when guests are hanging out in the nursery.
I’ve heard that a functional changing area is a must for any nursery – I’m sure I’ll really appreciate it when I’m changing 10 diapers a day! This one has a vintage-y french feel, and the white damascus mirror hanging above is such a statement piece. Its intricate inlay pattern makes it feel like something picked up at an exotic bazaar from a far-flung locale.
I created this little gallery wall using a couple of sweet art prints from Minted’s new collection and a framed photo of the “grandmothers” from my baby shower. The glider, throw and pillow are from Serena & Lily, and the lamp is from West Elm. Quite a cozy little corner, don’t you think?
I’m determined to turn her onto the classics early, so I’ve started collecting every single one of these gorgeous editions which double as bookshelf eye candy.
A few sweet little details to accessorize the bookshelf – knitted booties I picked up on our babymoon in Santa Barbara, a big piece of white coral and an assortment of cute stuffed creatures gifted from friends.
The bookshelf is from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child; storage baskets from Serena & Lily just waiting to be filled with toys! (and I love that they can be tucked out of site.)
Dresses from Sweet William, Pink Chicken and OshKosh Baby. I’m more than a little obsessed with all three.
This wood rocking horse adds the perfect vintage touch to the space – a timeless piece that I hope will become a family heirloom.
Sometimes during the day I go upstairs and spend a few minutes in the quiet space, just imagining all the precious memories that will be created here over the years. I can’t believe the room is about to be filled with the sights, sounds and scents of baby as she makes herself at home here!
This Malibu Chandelier is definitely one of my favorite pieces in the room. It’s earthy and exotic, and its fluttering beads will provide something interesting for baby to look up at over her crib. Wallpaper is the Vintage Flock pattern from Graham & Brown.
Is anything cuter that baby booties? I need to stock up on a few more, so let me know if y’all have any favorite sources!
My cousin watercolored this “And Then There Were Three” portrait of Adam, the baby and me, and it’s one of my favorite little keepsakes along with the photo of my mom holding me as a baby. Rocking bird from West Elm.
Thanks again to Chad for taking such beautiful photos of the space, and click here to check out my previous posts on the nursery planning process!
