I keep reading about how important it is for pregnant girls to find ways to incorporate little indulgences into our lives… as though I needed any convincing! I’ve been a long-time believer that everyone should look for a small way to pamper themselves every day, whether it’s an afternoon latté, gorgeous new lipstick or overpriced European design magazine from the newsstand (those are some of my faves, anyway!) I’ve been indulging in the occasional prenatal massage, lots of healthy smoothies, and these two items that I’ve been quite obsessed with this week. My Diptyque candle in Rose has the rare quality of perfuming my entire office even when it’s not lit…and it’s especially pretty when paired with a bouquet of pink roses from my garden. And this Tummy Honey Butter by Bella B is every bit as yummy as it appears. I’ve tried a bunch of different stretch-mark prevention creams, and this is the only one that actually feels like it’s doing something, plus it smells so good that you almost want to give it a taste. I’d love to hear about all of your favorite little indulgences! Let us know what you do to feel pampered in the comments below…

I completely agree! And I would say this is especially important when you are growing a teensy little one inside of you.. that’s a lot of work! The packaging for the tummy honey is so sweet 🙂 My favorite ways to pamper myself include a weekly bouquet of a favorite flower from the market to brighten my room, yummy cups of tea, and the occasional splurge at Sephora!

I love the indulgence of fresh flowers and good candles! It’s always such a great feeling when you put them out.

I used Tummy Honey Butter when I was pregnant, too. I can’t say for sure if that was the thing that did it but I don’t have any stretch marks. My fingers are crossed for you, too. 🙂

When I was pregnant, I would pamper myself with pedicures and indulge myself in a yummy craving. Now that the kids are here, a quiet moment during the day is enough:)

I totally agree with you! I actually indulge with overpriced American FAshion magazines 🙂 a bit of chocolate, trying all sorts of different brands of make up and Amazon orders…go figure!

Mine has to be a weekend cappuccino, a fabulous pain levain and some super-indulgent French butter (Echire, which one of our local markets flies in from France). I call it “fly-free travel”. Not as good as the real thing but enough to make the weekend special!

Oh yeah… french butter + crusty bread? Unbeatable combo!

While I was pregnant with my son Kael I would load up on Lush Bath Balls and make new concoctions each night and soak in there for the longest time reading whatever magazine was most current, it was something I looked forward to daily and the Lush Bath Balls gave the tub a glamorous feel..

I love the packaging of that cream! I too am a firm believer in little indulgences and I like to treat myself to a latte or some pretty new nail polish.

During my pregnancy I used L’Occitane Mommy and Me Shea butter (I think that’s the name) and loved it! It’s thick so I would only use it at night. The only thing though is that I didn’t like the smell too much, but I was told it was just me and my “hormones”. Good to know that that one works well too (you never know right?)

A weekend indulgence for me is to make an ‘eat pray love’ lunch of soft boiled eggs, buttered asparagus and prosciutto with shavings of parmesan, sea salt and black pepper. Bliss!

    Hi Camille,
If you are worried about stretch marks, I would highly recommend Elastin 3 by robelynlabs.com. Some people are more prone to them and I’m one of those people. After having 2 8+ lb babies and my sister having a 9.5lb baby, this stuff really does work! We both made it without any stretch marks. It’s worth every penny 🙂 I hope you are feeling well!

I have a little obsession with Diptyque candles too. I’ve asked for the Roses and Feuille de Lavande candles for birthday/Christmas presents before!

After not having read your blog since before Christmas – first of all – congrats!! It is truly an exciting, crazy time with expecting your first little one.

Having had 2 children w/in 2 years (first one born 1 week after I turned 39 & 2nd 2 months before I turned 41), I have zero (yes zero!) stretch marks. Honestly, I gained weight slowly – for the most part, ate healthy & did not see pregnancy as as an excuse to overeat. At one point with #1, I realized I was just eating to eat – not for any other real reason. Cut way back on the sweets, and was just nothing but baby.

Ditto Baby #2 conceived when Baby #1 was barely 14 months old – ate well & no binging. No stretch marks with either kiddo.

For both pregnancies, just used Palmer’s Cocoa Butter – around $5 bucks a bottle for a ton of product that you slather on daily.

With pregnancy brain (and with baby #1), it is so, so easy to think so much about every little detail and drive yourself crazy. It’s OK – must people do. You will drive yourself crazy over thinking every detail of cribs, car seats, strollers and highchairs. I certainly did. And you know what? In the end, it really does not matter. The baby/kid will sit in whatever stroller/chair you put them in and be just fine. Before you know it, they are running down the sidewalk and the last thing on your mind is a cream.

Enjoy the last real alone time with your husband. Your life will never be the same again. And don’t waste the precious minutes with your new baby thinking too much about things that really do not matter.
