Good morning, friends! It’s been a very very full week (multiple photo shoots, lots of book stuff, an antique-ing trip to Round Top and a day at the ACL Festival!) and I’m craving some unscheduled hours and time to just hangout with Phoebe this weekend. One thing that I’ve learned since becoming a mom is that babies don’t like to rush — they need to eat, play and explore in their own time — and I hate the feeling when I’ve been forcing Phoebe into an overly structured schedule just because my schedule gets really busy. But, so is life sometimes, and today I’m looking forward to pushing her in the swing for as long as she likes and watching her play in the grass with no where else we need to be. What are all of you up to? Hope you’re savoring some lovely fall weather, and enjoy my favorite links from the week!

Camille, I just love your weekend notes and the blog in general! Super SERIOUS question: I am a newly minted Southern California Girl (by way of the Mid-West). After being here almost a year, I am still finding it tough to enjoy all the seasonal beauty when the weather stays warm. As a Texan lady, do you have any pointers on getting into the seasonal spirit (fall/winter) when it is sunny and warm outside?

aww, thanks Hannah! I also LOVE the changing of the seasons, and it can definitely be tough to get into a fall frame of mind when the weather is calling for tank tops and flip flops! Since fall fashion has to wait and there really aren’t any autumn leaves to look at, I try to indulge my other senses – taste and smell – as much as possible. I burn a cozy apple-scented candle, bake dishes that are brimming with fall squash and spices, and I switched my morning tea to this great pumpkin spice flavor that at least makes me FEEL like it’s fall each morning… until I step outside, that is! 😉

So true what you said about babies needing lots of unscheduled time to play and explore. Really, we all need that!
