You guys, my ginger addiction is getting serious (exhibit a and exhibit b… see what I mean?) And now that autumn has arrived, fresh ginger’s sweet-spicy kick is such a perfect complement to what’s in season that I find myself adding a grating of it to everything from pumpkin bread to oatmeal to Asian-inflected marinades. I’ve been dipping my toes into the cold-pressed juice craze lately, and its no surprise that my flavor du jour is a lemon-apple-ginger combo. Since the sweet apple flavor heated up with spicy ginger are feeling so autumnal right now, I thought it’d be fun to turn this combo into a happy hour-worthy sip by spiking it with rum. And since research shows that ginger contains potent anti-inflammatory compounds… you could almost classify this as healthy. Keep reading for the recipe…

Great timing – another favorite blogger of mine posted about ginger today!! David Lebovitz posted a fresh ginger syrup recipe and I’ve just finished making it – it smells amazing and I can’t wait to use it! We’re pregnant right now so it will have to be non-alcoholic drinks but I bet this would be amazing in cocktails:) http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2013/09/fresh-ginger-syrup-recipe/

Oh wow, thanks so much for sharing! My only hesitation posting this recipe was being concerned that readers might not have access to the ginger syrup… But this homemade version solves it! And I’m sure it’s even tastier…

Oh man! This sounds amazing! Ginger has been a flavor I totally crave lately. I def need to look in to that ginger syrup. I made homemade ginger ale for a bday party a few years ago but this would certainly make it a little easier than having to make the syrup myself!

I love ginger, too! Can’t get enough of it. Tea, syrup, candied, beer. I’ll take it all! Great recipe. Love the glassware, too!
