Happy Easter weekend, darlings… does it feel like spring where all of you are? I’m looking forward to a couple days of soaking up the sunshine, working in the garden, taking lots of photos of Phoebe in her Easter dress… and of course, eating way too much pastel-colored candy. Speaking of treats, I was so delighted when these stunning photos from one of my fave photographers Elizabeth Messina popped up in my inbox last night – the results of a fun Easter shoot she collaborated on with friend & food stylist Elizabeth Colling, who created the most genius little “cake eggs” that I, for one, would love to discover in my Easter basket. Keep reading for all the sweet details from their shoot, and be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for my very favorite links from the week!

From Elizabeth C:

Elizabeth M saw a picture of a brownie baked in an egg shell on Pinterest and loved the idea. We decided to put our spin on that and make the inside look like an egg. So, I dyed the eggs different pale pastel colors and even used some beautiful natural eggs from the farmers market. I made a white cake (no egg yolks) and a delicious lemon curd for the “yolk.” We loved the surprise aspect of this play on food and so also decided to use other cake/filling combinations like red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and a pretty pink cake with a caramel filling so when you cracked your egg open you didn’t know what to expect.

Aren’t the results beyond gorgeous? And if you haven’t checked out their work, you absolutely must spend some time perusing the portfolios of these two talented ladies. Elizabeth Colling is a food stylist and food editor for Martha Stewart, and I’ve had a photographer crush on Elizabeth Messina for ages. (follow along with her on instagram here!)

If that didn’t put you in the Easter spirit, I don’t know what will! Hope you all have a lovely Saturday, and enjoy a few lovely things from around the web this week:

The traffic-stopping power of a great pair of shoes…

Such a cute way to pack up desserts, to-go.

Fell in love with this wedding at an English manor.

Toy stories (so adorable.)

Who wants to go glamping? (what to pack.)

These buttermilk-berry muffins are on my weekend to-bake list.

Jasmine is one of my favorite fragrances in the world… and it inspired this lovely board.

Hipster bride and groom at a Joshua Tree wedding.
