The craziness of this holiday-in-the-middle-of-the-week has left me reaching for the snooze button, and I’m feeling the need for a little extra jolt of inspiration to make it through one more workday…you? The Met Ball has become one of the most glamorous high fashion-meets-celebrity events of the year, and the week of and following, the blogosphere is brimming with hot-off-the-presses shots of guests modeling their most dazzling getups. While I love the red carpet shots as much as the next girl, what really gets me going is the more elusive photos from the private dinner inside the museum’s Temple of Dendur. Vogue shared the exclusive in the latest issue, and these chairs covered in an eclectic mix of Prada’s (the evening’s guest of honor) most famous textile prints packed quite a punch, don’t you think? I’d love to know what was on the menu…and whether most of the guests actually ate it. Keep reading for a few more standout moments from the evening – and now all that’s left to do is find a way to sweet talk Anna Wintour into sending me an invite to next year’s fête…
“Upon entering the museum’s Great Hall, guests were greeted by a cylindrical centerpiece made of 150,000 off-white roses whose Surrealist lip motif (each made of 4,000 red roses) paid homage to Prada’s spring 2000 collection.”
I had to throw in a little red carpet action. Florence wore feathers by Alexander McQueen, while Gwyneth looked every bit the party girl in Prada.
