Since it first launched, The Everygirl has been one of our favorite destinations for daily inspiration on the web. With beautiful features showcasing real-life working girls, recipes that make our mouths water, and hard-hitting topics like finance and health, the site is pristine. That said, it’s no surprise that co-founders Alaina and Danielle are quite the lifestyle mavens, and so we were dying to take a peek into their entertaining style. Keep reading for a few words from Alaina and Danielle about TheEverygirl.com, and click through for the beautiful snapshots that Danielle took of the most stress-free and stylish game night ever.
“It was our goal to create a resource that would inspire creative and career-driven women, and essentially help women like ourselves who want to find their dream jobs but don’t know where to begin or how to get there. The Everygirl is for the girl who wants to entertain, decorate her first home, save for a down payment (or a big trip to Europe!), start a 401K, and land her dream job among other things.”
Hosting a game night is the best because before long everyone will be laughing! It forces people to talk, get creative, move around, and team up. Some of our favorites are Balderdash, Taboo, and Scattegories. Of course, they’re all more… interesting… when wine is involved.
The kitchen rule they rarely break:
Always use cloth napkins. They’re pretty, eco-friendly, and will save you money in the long run.
Their standard hostess outfit:
Dark jeans and a cute top – nothing too expensive in case of splatters – we wouldn’t want to ruin our favorite blouses sauteeing onions. Of course, it helps to wear a cute apron to prevent any stains! Anthropologie sells really adorable options. And while we know heels look better, we always rely on cute flats for running back and forth from the kitchen and bar.
Must-have entertaining tool:
A wine opener and games!
Always in their fridge:
Goat cheese and Cupcake chardonnay.

The tastes they’re always craving:
Sweet potato fries and chocolate chip cookies — not super healthy but always delicious!
The perfect dinner party playlist includes…
The soundtracks to Something’s Gotta Give and Sleepless in Seattle on loop. Something’s Gotta Give is comprised almost entirely of French music, while the Sleepless in Seattle soundtrack offers up a bunch of classics by Jimmy Durante, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong… Both offer the perfect background music: soothing and soulful, but also comfortably familiar. And if the mood strikes, any tune on these two albums is perfect for grabbing a partner and dancing around the living room, just like our favorite characters would in a Nancy Meyers or Nora Ephron movie!
The restaurant meal they’ll never forget:
Dinner at Stella in Boston – you can read all of the details about that experience here! And if you’re ever in Boston, go and get the asparagus and truffle linguini. You won’t regret it.
Dream dinner guests:
Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Meryl Streep, Oprah, Diane Keaton, Alexis Maybank, Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, Jenna Lyons, and we would have loved to wine and dine with Nora Ephron
The Evergygirl’s entertaining style in 5 words or less:
comfortable, surprising, cocktail-y, simple, affordable
