Entertaining With :: The Fronks

By Chanel Dror

There are lots of reasons why I’ve been counting down to summer’s arrival, but at the top of the list was the anticipation of sharing today’s feature with you all. Not only are Jordan and Chris Fronk a super stylish couple, but they’re also two of the most fun loving people I know… so it’s no surprise that their famed pool-side parties tend to be some of the most beloved events of the season. Always boasting a mouthwatering Texas-inspired spread (be it Franklin’s BBQ or homemade fajitas) and set in their picturesque backyard, a party at the Fronks’ always promises to be just the kind of summer fun you’d hope to have. Add their two adorable wee ones to the guest list, and you’d be crazy to miss it. We had so much fun stopping by with Chelsea a few weeks ago to snap up photos of their entertaining style, and I swear I can still taste the fiery deliciousness of Chris’s Bull Fighting Serranos (slide 8). Click through to see the fun for yourself!

What, if anything, scares you about entertaining?

Not too much really. I try to plan and prep ahead of time so I am not rushing around at the last minute.

My dream dinner guests:

Jon Stewart and Kristen Wiig.

(Jordan’s table linen is from JM Drygoods… isn’t it amazing?)

Always in my refrigerator:

Avocados, Prosseco, feta cheese, fresh fruit, baby food.

My standard hostess outfit:

We almost always entertain outside by the pool, so I usually end up in a bathing suit with a cute cover up.

We took a tequila tasting/cooking class the last time we were at our favorite resort in Mexico. Even after a couple hours of tequila, Chris remembered this “Bull Fighting Serranos” recipe, and it is now a staple for topping fajitas or tacos. (recipe on next slide)

Caution… It’s REALLY spicy! And really delicious!

The perfect dinner party playlist includes:

Miles Davis, Arcade Fire, Jack White, Jim James, Ed Sharpe, and a little Rihanna for good measure (and good dancing).

The restaurant meal I’ll never forget:

French Laundry for my 30th birthday. Thomas Keller is a food god in the Fronk household, if he suggests it, we will try it.  When it comes to cooking, I find myself starting many sentences with “Thomas Keller says…” It was amazing to finally eat at his storied restaurant. After sharing a bottle of champagne with two of our dearest friends, we proceeded to have a seven course, three hour meal that I will never ever forget. The food, the service, the atmosphere was all perfect and it ended with a quick (and carefully orchestrated) tour of the kitchen. Best birthday ever!

The taste I’m always craving:

Sweet! I could eat cake with every meal and be a happy lady.

(pictured: The Fronks’ super sweet and extra teeny Yorkie, Hollis)

My must-have entertaining tool:

My vintage Culver punch bowl and glasses. I searched high and low for the perfect set and was so excited when I finally found the perfect one on Etsy. I immediately planned a party just so I could use it. The glasses are so delicate and sweet, and we love drinking wine out of them as well.

My signature entertaining dish:

Fish House Punch. This delicious cocktail dates back to the 1700’s and was rumored to be a favorite of George Washington. It’s a great crowd pleaser — sweet enough, a little tart and VERY strong. Perfect!

(check back on Monday for this recipe — you won’t want to miss it!)

The entertaining rule I rarely break:

Always have back up booze! We never want our guests to go thirsty, so we always make sure to have something extra tucked away in the pantry.

My entertaining style in 5 words or less:

Casual and friendly.
