Dark Paths

Before Chanel’s wedding, Michael and I spent a few days in Munich and took a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle in Füssen. I’m so glad we did — it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of an epic trip. The castle, built in the late 1880s by the “mad” King Ludwig II, reflects all the fantasy and romance that preoccupied the king’s mind. Hiking the dark wooded trails around the castle, we definitely felt like we were in a Grimm fairy tale. There was definitely a strange and beautiful energy to the place, and we couldn’t help but wonder if the isolation, dark woods and long winters may have twisted the king’s mind over time… whatever path you take this Halloween, I hope you won’t be afraid of the dark.
