This Tropical Themed Baby Shower Felt More Like A Cool Party

By Chanel Dror
perfect summer menu

Spring is here and warm-weather breezes are in the air, and around the office we’re especially excited about the season ahead because one of our team members, Caroline, has a baby on the way! To celebrate, we threw her a baby shower inspired by the tropics. But instead of doing this one at the CS Bungalow, we took the party off-site to our favorite new restaurant in town, picture-perfect Hank’s. We scoped out the perfect corner booth, and decked it out with amazing pieces from Target‘s beachy Threshold collection to create a memorable, beautiful celebration for Caroline. Scroll, scroll, scroll for all the fun (and easy!) details, perfect for your next spring gathering.

Whether you’re a first time hostess or a total pro, we always love the fool-proof combination of tropical leaves with striped ceramics, like this Large Stripe Vase. Cutie Megan played up the island vibes in her Floral Print Sheer Kimono.

Tip #1 Make it Personal

Deck out a restaurant’s private dining space or even a cozy booth to fit your party’s theme by bringing in your own table runner, throw pillows, and candlesticks. This way, you can focus on your guest of honor while leaving food and cleanup to the pros!

Tip #2 Layer on natural textures like rattan and jute for a boho, island theme.

We couldn’t decide between these two pretty runners, so we just layered them one on top of the other! The more texture, the better.

The folks at Hank’s whipped up their amazing Tumeric Ginger Tonic for a delicious, alcohol-free drink that everyone could enjoy. We served it over ice in Target’s gorgeous Glass Hobstar Tumblers.

Tip #3 Don’t forget mocktails for the mama-to-be!

Tiki garnishes like tropical fruit, mini pineapple stir sticks and paper parasols make sure she doesn’t miss out on any of the fun.

When in doubt, fish tacos are always a good idea. We served ours in this Round Acacia Serving Platter for easy passing and grabbing.

Also on the menu? A chopped kale salad, charred vegetables with horseradish aioli, and of course…

… dessert! These lime raspberry tarts were total show stoppers when served on Threshold’s Crackle Dessert Plates.

When it came time to open presents, we moved the party outside to a pillow-filled lounge area.

The quintessential summer indulgence, we enjoyed “frosés” in these gorgeous Gold Stainless Steel Julep Tumblers. Cheers!

Who needs a coffee table when you have this Dark Rattan Round Tray? We set ours in the middle of our party space as a catch-all for all the drinks and desserts.

Tip #4 Party with Plants!

Tropical plants (both real and faux!) make for easy, affordable decor that the mom-to-be can take home to enjoy after the shower. Would you ever guess that that’s an artificial plant atop that 3 Tier Wood and Rattan Stand?

Tip #5 Send guests home with a cocktail kit complete with mini pineapple shakers and craft mixers.

We packed a pineapple shot glass and an Assembly Brands Cocktail Syrup into each of these cute round woven baskets, and tied on a hand written “thank you!” tag.
