Why Vision Boarding is Our New Favorite Girls Night

making vision boards

January is one of our favorite months at Team CS because we have time to dive deep into headier topics like mindfulness and personal goals. With 2017 firmly in the rear view mirror, we thought it would be fun to use our first day back in the office to define our resolutions for the new year. So we teamed up with our friends at Botanics to host a “fresh start” gathering for 2018 (and send us a basket of amazing skincare products to try) we jumped at the opportunity. We spent the morning doing yoga, making vision boards, and testing out (our soon to be new favorite) products from the Botanics All Bright skincare collection. 2018, we’re comin’ for ya — fresher and more radiant than ever.

We all wore our favorite cozy yoga gear to the office and I led the team in a short vinyasa. We did a few sun salutations and enjoyed our bright new patio (which is perfect for morning yoga!).

We ended our series in tree pose and then headed back in to make smoothies and talk about our goals for the new year.

I set up the build-your-own smoothie bar with kale, coconut water, almond milk, and a ton of colorful fruits to choose from. YUM!

Camille is basically the smoothie master, so I had her whip me up one using some of my favorite ingredients — raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and coconut milk.

We chatted about our resolutions as individuals and as a team. Our personal resolutions were all different, but we all felt excited about eating healthier and taking better care of our skin and bodies in 2018.

Everyone’s smoothie turned out totally different and so colorful.

Carmen spilled the beans on her plans to take on the world of PR in 2018!

Now for the really fun part — I brought in a ton of old magazines, poster boards and glue sticks and we all sat down to make old school “vision boards” for 2018.

It’s no surprise that all of us were SUPER into collaging in high school, but we had totally forgotten how fun and zen-like the process can be.

We reminisced on funny stories from high school while we worked on our boards (including tales of bad boyfriends, sneaking out, and the hilarious things we used to do to our skin — pore strips, anyone?).

Camille’s board started to come together, revealing her passion for surfing and her personal goal to live in the moment for 2018.

Carmen’s came together beautifully in her signature palette – macaron pastels with a modern twist.

My vision board was all about taking risks, femininity, and mysticism. My goal for 2018 is to be confident enough to allow myself to receive all the love, romance, and magic of life!

My Tips for a Great Vision Board:

• Start gathering images that appeal to you on a gut level. Don’t worry about whether or not they make sense together or have a cohesive “theme”. As you start assembling the board, they may come together in unexpected ways.

• Start building your board by creating a base layer of larger images with straight edges.

• Start adding smaller elements that are cut “to shape” on top of your base layer.

• Don’t be afraid to write or draw on top of your collage. There are no rules!

Confidence definitely starts with healthy skin, so I couldn’t wait to try out the All Bright Range from Botanics beauty. The All Bright Range utilizes the natural power of hibiscus to help make skin more even and brighter.

Post yoga, we washed our faces with the All Bright Cleansing Foam Wash. The wash left our skin feeling clean and comfotable, but not dried out.

All of the products in the All Bright Range use sustainably sourced handpicked hibiscus flowers from Burkina Faso, West Africa. Botanics has actually helped to create sustainable jobs for those living in the area.

Camille and Carmen loved the All Bright Cleansing Toner, a light energizing step for the face before adding moisturizer.

Formulated with naturally exfoliating Alpha Hydroxy Acids from the hibiscus plant and a blend of active botanicals, the All Bright Concentrate Serum improves skin texture and tone.

The serum is perfect for brightening up the face before adding moisturizer or makeup.

We had fun trying out the new products from the All Bright Range. A real crowd pleaser was the All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On, a cleaver, cooling roller ball that helps de-puff the eye area.

We’re so used to great smelling, beautifully packaged products being crazy expensive. Our photographer Jess couldn’t believe when we told her that not a single one of these products is over $15 – and they are all available at Target!

Thanks Botanics, for inspiring us to take action to make 2018 a better, brighter year!
