Jen here, and I love the month of October! I’m fully on board with the changing weather, pumpkin-flavored everything, and of course Halloween!  Long before I was a stylist, there was nothing I loved more than putting together a creative costume. Come October 1st I would start counting down the days and scoping out the nearby Goodwills for the best possible pieces.  It really is so much fun, isn’t it?! But have you ever noticed that Halloween shindigs tend to continue way past Halloween? While I still love dressing up as much as the next gal, there comes a time when the rentals must be returned and costumes hung up. Should you find yourself done with all the dressing up before Halloween has had her last hurrah (especially since this year the festivities will likely span two weekends) or with no time to find a costume, allow me to introduce the non-halloween costume. Yep, you heard that correctly — the non-halloween costume can include things like feather accessories, glittery accents, and your favorite shoes that you don’t get to wear nearly enough.
Mine was created around this amazing Marc by Marc Jacobs metallic coat — the orangey-copper color lends itself not only to this particular holiday but to many dressed up evenings to come.  The non-halloween costume comes in handy when you’re taking your kids trick-or-treating and don’t want to be dressed like a princess, or if your office doesn’t allow dressing up.

Worried about the response to your non-traditional costume?  Don’t be!  Should someone approach you and ask what you are, let your only response be, “Fabulous!”

This was my costume from two years ago.  Can you guess who we are? What are you all being for Halloween this year? I need costume ideas!
