I should preface this post by saying that (if you didn’t already know): I’m Jewish. But even though I didn’t grow up with a Christmas tree beaming in my living room each holiday season, I’ve trimmed and decorated my fair share, and have been an admiring observer of firs for as long as I can remember. It’s fun for me to imagine what type of tree I would have in an alternate universe: real or fake, big or small, natural or blinged out, modern or heirloom? These are big decisions, people! And I admire you all for making them year after year. If you’ve already got a tree standing tall in your home (or standing short on a tabletop), I’d love to hear how you’ve decked it out. But if you’re still on the hunt for the perfect tree and a little guidance on how to decorate it, you’ve come to the right place. Here are the top 10 best Christmas trees on the internet for your browsing pleasure.

It’s no secret that the world looks to the team at Studio McGee for their design expertise. With products and inspiring projects that epitomize all the comfy feels, Studio McGee has a modern, but cozy style on lock. This tree feels elevated while still maintaining a level of accessibility—nothing is too over-the-top about its take on the traditional Tannenbaum.

Woodland-Inspired Tree from Camille Styles

The outdoors have found their way inside our home décor inspo over the past few years. Camille’s woodland-inspired tree is a perfect example of how seamlessly the trend can transition to our holiday-themed living rooms. The resulting composition is undeniably unique and offers the expected festivity while still giving off a wonderfully woodsy vibe.

Modern Minimalist Tree - best christmas trees

Modern Minimalist Tree from Brady Tolbert

This tree is proof that you can beautifully blend holiday cheer with a minimalist aesthetic. The key to creating this dynamic look is to use varied but coordinating ornaments and design elements. Maintaining a clear color palette throughout keeps it from feeling overwhelming, and you can instead be soothed by your tree’s calming glow.

Natural and Simple Tree from Jenni Kayne - best christmas trees

Natural and Simple Tree from Jenni Kayne

There’s something wonderfully wintry about the tradition of heading outdoors, chopping down a tree, and literally bringing the great outdoors into your home. This tree takes the au naturel approach a step further by weaving in pinecones (an easy Christmas DIY) and adorable woodland creature ornaments for a simple but nonetheless impressive display. And don’t worry—you can still create this look if an artificial tree is your only option.

Humble and Homemade Christmas from Chelsea Mohrman for Schoolhouse

No matter what they say, this tree is proof that the mid-century design craze is holding strong. Nothing says nostalgia like getting in the holiday spirit, and while this take is clearly reminiscent of a certain era, it’s also delightful, charming, and ridiculously cute. It’s the kind of tree that’s sure to put a smile on your face every time you head into the living room to sneak a peek.

Minimal Christmas Tree from The Merrythought - best christmas trees

Minimal Christmas Tree from The Merrythought

Is there anything more pleasing to look at than an all-white Christmas tree? This holiday season, perhaps not. Recreate the look for yourself with a simple array of white and beige paper, clay, and homemade ornaments in simple and streamlined geometric shapes. Not only is this a perfect solution for the low-maintenance among us, but the final product will be a serene and soul-soothing sight to behold.

Oh Happy Day Tree

Bright and Cheery Tree from Oh Happy Day

Here’s the option for all the maximalists at heart. If you’re not afraid to bring a little color to your Christmas cheer, this is the tree to inspire you. The trick is to balance out the bold hues with minimal scattering of ornaments in identical shapes and sizes. Forget what you’ve heard about less being more and get ready to deck the halls to your heart’s content.

Oh Joy! Flora and Fauna Tree

Flora and Fauna Tree from Oh Joy!

If you thought the only animals that could work on your Christmas tree were reindeer and doves, think again. A rainbow of butterflies mixed with floral ornaments and elements truly brings this tree to life. Concepted by everyone’s favorite uber-creative designer, Joy Cho, this alternative twist on the centerpiece of every holiday home will have you smiling with delight. While a certain color palette of flora and fauna can certainly work on a natural, evergreen tree, pairing the near-neon décor with a bright white canvas makes your ornaments, and therefore your creative genius, truly shine.

Simple and Natural Tree from Finding Lovely

Simple and Natural Tree from Finding Lovely

Dialed back, but nonetheless iconic, this tree exudes elegant simplicity. While there’s certainly a time and a place to enjoy a beautifully-coiffed Christmas tree (you know, the kind that would make Mr. and Mrs. Claus proud), I’m a strong supporter of letting the branches’ natural beauty shine. A Charlie Brown-esque tree can be made charming and even glamorous with the intentional arrangement of just-sparkly-enough ornaments and fairy lights. Experiment with a range of different shapes, styles, and textures, but be sure to stick to a consistent color scheme when you’re decorating.

Balsam Hill Alpine Balsam Fir Tree

Après-Ski Tree from Balsam Hill

This is the sort of tree I can imagine sitting in the corner of the coziest ski chalet or perhaps placed in multiples throughout a boutique hotel at Christmas time. Play up the tree’s satisfying symmetry by dangling long droops of sparkly garland all over. Add to that a few strategically-placed glass ornaments, and you’ll have the chicest tree of all.
