What’s New for August :: Home

By Lauren Smith Ford
Kimia Kline, art curator for Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn

Even though I (Lauren) am a mom and hit the 30th birthday milestone two years ago, there is something about coveting and wanting to save for a sofa instead of a handbag that makes me feel like I am officially an adult. Creating a home that feels inviting, comfortable and…well, just like us, for my family seems to become more important each year, so my obsession with paint colors, art, furniture and even door styles, is ever growing (as seen by the piles of magazines that have become a permanent fixture in our home…current favorites include Apartamento and ELLE Decor). We are in the process of building a house, so I was thrilled when our team decided to devote this month to all things home & design.

Austin House Tour with Lauren Duffy Stone | Photography by Jessica Pages for Camille Styles

Each week during the month of August, we will feature a House Tour with one of our favorite creatives. This kicks off on Thursday with an inside look at the wonderfully groovy 1930s barn style bungalow of up and coming interior decorator Duffy Stone (pictured above in a photo by Jessica Pages) in East Austin.

World traveller Shay Spaniola, who started a beautiful line of eclectic, hand-painted fabrics called Bunglo, will share tips on how to set up the perfect home office space.

Kimia Kline, art curator for Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn

Brooklyn’s Wythe Hotel is one of our all-time favorite spots. The 70-room hotel housed in a former factory was built in 1901. Kimia Kline, an artist in her own right, serves as the art curator of the hotel, so Chanel sat down with her on a recent trip to NYC for our next edition of Dream Job.

Alyson Fox at Home | Camille Styles

We will also be stopping in at the modern ranch house of the multi-talented artist and designer Alyson Fox (pictured) for a House Tour and sneak peek at her new fashion line that launches at the end of this month. Our art director Jennifer Rose Smith will unveil her closet makeover. We can’t wait to see her “new favorite room” in the house! Our homes should be a celebration of our style, but most importantly a sanctuary to escape from the world, or a comfortable place to entertain our nearest and dearest. Join us in exploring all kinds of interesting dwellings this month, as we get tips and inspiration from the creatives who live in each space!
