At $350 per pound, it’s no surprise the black truffle has been dubbed the diamond of the kitchen.” There are few foods that represent this level of glamour and decadence, and coincidentally, the world’s most fabulous fungus happens to go with nearly everything. For today’s Monochromatic Monday, I was inspired to put together something totally and unmistakably rich in a glamorous palette of black, white and gold, with special appearances by the always-alluring Marilyn, and of course, dark chocolate. Can’t afford trek out to New Zealand and snag a few-thousand dollars worth of black truffles? (me neither) Commoners like us can get our fix with much more affordable options like infused truffle oil and truffle salt — just a pinch of the stuff can make any old dish feel outrageously special! For any other truffle fans out there, I’d love to hear about how you indulge…
