Ever since this year’s Oscars, it seems that red is having a major moment. So for this month’s installment of Double Take we chose this fun and flirty kate spade new york zooey skirt, and I enlisted two stylish girls to share how they would dress it up, or dress it down because the possibilities are endless…glam it up to host a holiday party or throw on some sneakers for an easy breezy everyday ensemble.

I used to see Ashley Horsley’s outfits every day when we worked together and always loved her minimalist and casually cool approach to style. Ashley, the art director for Austin-based arts and culture magazine, Tribeza, says: “I usually stay away from fussy items and stick to a pretty strict uniform of button downs, sneakers and the occasional bag dress.”

She paired the kate spade new york zooey skirt with their crisp cotton tuxedo top, shira sunglasses, the grove court daley bag and a Madewell denim jacket.

“This skirt feels super glamorous, so I made it a little more casual with sneakers, a white button down and my trusty jean jacket,” she says. “My motto — denim is a girl’s best friend. This is the perfect workday outfit, especially when I have a fun lunch date planned at one of my favorite spots like Elizabeth Street Cafe or Epicerie.

What else is on Ashley’s shopping list for fall? “An amazing Mansur Gavriel bucket bag, Skargorn tees in every color, an En Soie embroidered clutch, and Isabel Marant Etoile’s quilted denim coat.”

A self-described sneaker lover, Ashley isn’t afraid to pair her Vans with any and everything. The other footwear line she is loving for fall is Austin’s own HELM Boots.

Ashley is always working on a DIY. Right now, it’s the restoration of an old claw foot tub. But, she has mostly been focused on creative directing this Wednesday night’s Tribeza Fashion Show in Austin. “It has been amazing to be a part of how this artistic vision translates to not only the clothing, but also the backdrop, florals, decor, music, and more,” she says. “Helping curate this show and bringing together such a talented mix of people will be a highlight of my career!”

I first met Madison Enloe several years ago when she had just graduated from the Brooks Institute. Then, she moved back to Cali to work as the head women’s photographer for Quiksilver, Roxy and DC. Now, she’s back in Austin where she opened the hottest new shop in town, Hoiden Supply Co. When she rolled up to the shoot on her motorcycle, we were in awe of her coolness and knew the bike had to be incorporated in to the shoot.

“My personal style is all about clean lines, neutral tones and versatile pieces with a little edge,” Madison says. “I have always loved jewelry. That’s where I get my flare!”

Madison bought her first motorcycle, a 1965 Honda S90, three years ago. She upgraded to a Harley Iron 993 this summer and her first motorcycle now sits inside the store.

The skirt is such a fun, bold statement, so I wanted to keep it as the centerpiece for the outfit and went with darker tones,” she says.

Madison calls her new shop, Hoiden Supply Co., on South Lamar in Austin a “women’s mercantile that combines fashion and a love of adventure.” Everything she styled the kate spade new york skirt with is available at Hoiden — a leather jacket by June, a “Yuma” necklace by Pyper Gray, stacking rings by Karen London, a hand chain by Marida Silver and booties by “Ten 20.”

Madison just returned from the New York market to buy for the store for the next season and is most excited about the perfect leather backpack she found. “I also really love printed menswear inspired trousers paired with matching button downs,” she says.

What does Madison love about riding a motorcycle? “Everything. No seriously…I love that it is an escape, a chance to just forget about troubles and feel free! It makes having to do daily tasks so fun.”

That Kate Spade skirt is amazing and I love how Madison incorporated an edgy vibe with the leather motorcycle jacket.
