So excited to introduce our newest contributor to Camille Styles! Cristina Cleveland pens the brimming-with-inspiration blog Fuji Files (read more about her here.) She’ll be joining us here twice a month with a series called Bring It Home, where she’ll unpack gorgeous and inspiring spaces, then show us how to translate them for our own dwellings. Take it away, Cristina!

Hello ladies! I’m quite sure we’ve all spied this lovely living room at one point or another and thought “I will never find a vintage Hermes tray“… and you were probably right. But don’t distress! This room really isn’t about the coveted luxury logo at all. With the right mix of color, texture, and a few fun accessories we can all achieve this look at home. The good news is this room actually has a very simple base of white walls, a neutral sofa and a wooden coffee table…Keep reading to find out how it was transformed into such a chic space!
Because it’s fall, let’s begin with a little layering: layer an area rug on top of carpet, and an ikat pillow over a Moroccan wedding blanket – still not over those. Next we’ll add a few metallic pieces on top of it all for a glamorous touch. My favorite design idea for recreating this look is borrowing a few accessories from the wardrobe, like a beautiful necklace or bauble that we may not wear as much as we’d like. You can lay them right on the tray like they did here, or corral them in a pretty little bowl (my pick below is actually a gold ashtray).
For those of us who take forever to decide on a paint color, you’ll be happy to know this decor is very low-commitment! You can easily switch the accessories out of your tray for a different look or color combination (I’d love to try lavender and orange!) or even use the tray in a different room altogether when you feel like a change. And because our piece isn’t Hermes, our orange tray will also be a fun way to serve drinks or treats at our next fete!

I love this new series, great idea!
Love this series! It will be a fun one to follow:)
That gold ashtray and silver skull are pretty rad!
Love the Hermes tray…but I know that they cost an arm and a leg!
Agreed – it’s such a classic piece, my dream is to find one vintage! But if not…Cristina’s little roundup is definitely a pretty alternative. 🙂
I adore this…so wonderfully eclectic! Looking forward to seeing more from you Cristina!
I love the orange Hermes tray and the skull! Similar to this? http://www.etsy.com/shop/ArbitraryLiving
