Exactly one week left in October (crazy, right?) and we’re thinking there’s still time to throw a family-friendly affair that doesn’t revolve around ghosts & goblins. Camille mentioned yesterday that we aren’t the biggest fans of the classic black-and-orange palette for Halloween, so we were totally on board with Martha when she proposed hosting this classically autumnal gathering. With drool-worthy comfort foods, playful pumpkin carvings, and hot whiskey sours on the itinerary, this one is sure to be a blast for all invited. Since guests will be hands-on with messy pumpkins, invite friends over for a casual backyard affair, where the changing weather & delicious food are all you’ll need to set the seasonal tone. A few more ideas after the jump!

My husband’s birthday is on Halloween and I’m always looking for ways of celebrating his birthday sans the black and orange theme. Thanks for the links and inspiration. I may put them to good use at our party on Sunday for him.

    Happy Tuesday!
