If you hadn’t noticed, the big game’s this weekend…and although I’m not quite sure what our plans will be, I’m certainly planning what we’ll be eating! (’cause isn’t that really the main event?) I’ve been stalking my favorite food bloggers for recipes that strike the balance between fun (chocolate-covered ritz crackers, for example!) and slightly more sophisticated than the typical chicken-wings-and-beer menu. The edibles that make my Super Bowl cut must (a) be easy to eat, (b) not require silverware, since they’ll be eaten in front of the telly, and (c) be hearty enough to put a dent in the appetites of guys all fueled up on sports fanaticism and testosterone. I think these chocolate-covered peanut butter ritz crackers from spoon fork bacon fit the bill perfectly, don’t you? Keep reading for the others on my game-day crave list, and follow the links for the recipes!

This grilled corn salsa from My New Roots would be so delish scooped up with homemade corn tortilla chips (and is much healthier than that bowl of queso, might I add.)

I’m fascinated by these parsley root fries with roasted tomato ketchup, from My New Roots. They’re baked in the oven with minimal fat, and I have a feeling the parsley root would add an addictive, more complex flavor than the typical potatoes. Cannot wait to try!

Yeah, yeah, we all know beer is king on Super Bowl Sunday. But do you really think anyone’s going to refuse a cold glass of this fruity mexican sangria (from Jose Villa & Joel Serrato for Design*Sponge) if you offer it to them?

You could order a greasy pie from your local delivery place… or you could whip up this cherry tomato and fresh thyme tart from Spoon Fork Bacon in the same amount of time. This one’s much prettier, and it’s on the lighter side…meaning you can go ahead and eat that second (or third) piece, guilt-free.

So, what are you ladies and gents making for the big game this weekend? Any menu ideas or recipes you’ve gotta share? Leave a comment and let me know!

Yum! I’m not gonna lie – I completely forgot about the Super Bowl. This post just reminded me! And when I saw that first photo I thought – “please let those be peanut butter Ritz cracker sandwiches covered in chocolate!”

Same here – I just go with the strategy of cheering when everyone else does, and that usually seems to work JUST fine for me! 😉

Great ideas. I especially love the parsley root fries! I’m still not sure what I’m bringing to the Super Bowl party… maybe (baked) parmesan chicken tenders? – a healthier option than wings. xo.

Hi Camille! I really want to try those fries too and may just do it on Sunday. Have you ever tried the mini peanut butter ritz crackers in white chocolate? The combo is so yummy and the tiny size makes them perfect party food. Kids love them too 🙂

We’re making some asian style wings and fresh guac and salsa for the game.
