Pretty Simple :: A Beautiful New Year

Martha Lynn here, and I don’t know about you but I just love the start of a new year. A clean slate and an open calendar never fail to put me in a great mood, and I love to take the entire month of January to reflect on the past year and plan for the next. So naturally, much of my time is spent focusing on beauty resolutions for myself and my clients. Whether you’re in a beauty rut or just want to be healthier, I hope you take some time to think about how you can make your beauty work for you this year. Here are a few resolutions to jump start your self-improvement, and I’d love to know what areas of the beauty department you’ll be zeroing in on in 2013.

1. Wear a bold lip. This one is definitely for me.  I love the look of a bold lip on others but am admittedly shy when it comes to sprucing up my pucker.  I resolve to finding the perfect shade this year and you should too! image

I’d love to give #6 a try. I’ve had ombre on the radar for awhile :)

I made the leap myself this year and absolutely LOVE it!

I have found that as long as I wear a great red lipstick, people always think I’m going somewhere important! Even if its just to the gas station!

I really need to get on board with that… it’s so true that lipstick makes you look instantly put-together. That is my beauty resolution!

Great ideas! I really need to try the hair products because I use my flat iron way too much and have a section of my hair that broke off two years ago and still hasn’t grown back. My hair is thick and curly naturally and I really need to use something that can calm the frizz! Living in Miami…you can imagine what the humidity does to my hair! I’m practically walking around with an uncontrollable afro 24/7. :)

Yes! Check out Living Proof’s Restore Mask it will literally change your hair after the first time you use it. AMAZING! Then once you get it healthy (after about 2 weeks on the Restore regime) you can switch to No Frizz and you will be good to go! Let me know how it goes…

Thank you so much for the info! I have a blogger party coming up and I would love for my hair to look great! I will order the Restore and then the No frizz! Excited!

I need to do all of this! I already wear SPF on a daily basis, but it’s been 9 months since my last haircut! The bold lip is another thing I’d love to do, I’ve just only started using a Chinatown glossy pencil in genre from Lipstick Queen. Th perfect way to work myself up to trying a bolder colour!

I’m too, am in dire need of a trim… I don’t know why I don’t just get in the habit of doing it more often, since I always feel SO good afterwards! And since I happen to go to Martha Lynn’s salon, it would give me an excuse to see her more often. An added bonus. ;)

Ditto on the Living Proof No Frizz products. I am so happy that my city FINALLY got an ULTA so I can actually buy my shampoo and conditioner instead of having to order it online.

Just tried it for the first time – and loving it! I picked up their “Prime” and can’t wait to give it a whirl…

I have GOT to figure out a way for my naturally curly hair to look good when air dried! Is it possible with the right product? And red lips. I’ve never done it… so sad!

Yes you just need to work those curls…most people are fighting frizz when dealing with curls and creating consistency. Maybe this needs to be a future Pretty Simple post :-)
