Pretty Simple :: Summer Waves

May 28th, 2014

Summer is officially here and that means it’s time to master that perfectly beach-y mermaid hair we all dream about. Martha Lynn here, and I am so excited to share a technique that will have everyone doing a double take whether you are on the beach or in the boardroom: these are the curls that go great with bronzed skin and that new flow-y sundress you’ve been dying to wear. They look totally effortless (and they almost are!) If you use the right products, this look will last for days. Read on for my step-by-step tutorial on how to achieve those perfect summer waves…

    What a beautiful look for summer! I use a clipless iron, so it might take some practice, but I’m determined to replicate this. Thanks!

    I have naturally straight, fine hair with a soft/slippery texture. I live in Texas, and in the summertime I can never get curl to hold (especially with a curling iron, maybe an hour with hot rollers). I’ve always just used hairspray. Do you recommend a product that withstands the humidity for my type of hair? Also, I don’t blow dry my hair– I wash it at night and style it in the morning, so I couldn’t use a product that requires blow drying. Any tips would be great–thanks!

    • Absolutely! Living Proof “Full” line would be great for you, it puts microscopic dots on your hair so it will act like full thick hair. Seriously a game changer. Also try their hairspray “Flex” it will give it some grab when you are curling without making it sticky! Good luck 😉

    This is such a perfect summer look — and easier to create than I would’ve imagined!

    I’m so happy I found this post! I have wavy shoulder length fine hair, and while I use my curling iron from time to time, I’ve never liked how the curls turned out and thought I was just resigned to never having the beachy-yet-polished hair of my dreams. This post was a total game changer! I followed the instructions to the letter, and my hair turned out great – just the right balance of unstructured curls, body, and beachiness. And the day-after effect was even better. I did find doing the right side more difficult and emerged with a couple of minor burns on my finger and one on my ear, but I think with practice I’ll get there. Thanks so much!
