Happy Thursday! The first week of February has been quite a whirlwind. The construction on the new Camille Styles office is wrapping up, move in has begun, and I can’t wait for the full reveal. Until then, I thought I’d share the design process behind Camille’s personal office space.
Camille’s design aesthetic is elegantly simple. She loves neutrals, a beautiful soothing palette with punches of color, inspiration boards, and design details. Each furniture piece is picked for a specific purpose, leaving the room open and free of clutter to encourage creativity.

The office layout is fairly straight forward. The desk is pulled away from the wall so Camille can get a clear view out her windows and an open view to greet anyone who enters the space. This also allows for potential shelving behind the desk. Two guest chairs face the desk inviting conversation and collaboration. Drapes and a rug are a must to bring softness and warmth into the space. An inspiration board is visible and accessible for photo shoot planning. Add a plant, a lamp, some art, and voila! The office design doesn’t have to be elaborate, just needs to be a space that the person working in it feels not only comfortable but also energized. Though I don’t advocate “design rules” here are some helpful tips when decorating your own space!
- Warm up your space with a rug (keeping something soft on the ground helps the office feel more homey and less sterile).
- Make sure you have closed storage for the not so pretty office supplies (we all have paper work and office supplies that aren’t aesthetically pleasing, so make sure you have adequate storage to hide them from every day view).
- Have overhead lights on dimmers (working under bright over head lighting can drain you, make sure you can turn it down or off as desired).
- In addition, make sure you have a floor lamp or task lamp for ambient lighting (again, over head glare gets old, so balance it out with task lighting).
- Have a space to layout or pin up the project you are working on (having the visuals in front of you helps push the inspiration).
- Plants, plants, plants (having at least a small living plant is a personal must because it helps bring the outside in).
