This summer I’m finding myself skipping the reds and pinks and going for a bright coral lip. As with any bold lip color, you can go lighter on other areas on your face and let the lips take center stage — that means high impact with a minimal effort (which is an A+ in my books for hot summer nights!) Martha Lynn here, and I think every girl needs both a coral gloss for a subtle daytime look and a bold coral with hints of tangerine for nighttime drama.
Choosing the right coral for your skin tone is key, and that’s why I strongly encourage taking lipstick for a test run before purchasing. I recommend peachy-pink shades for fair skinned beauties, while those with darker skin tones can go more bold and even try matte for high impact. Keep in mind that those high voltage colors in the tube or stick may actually go on very sheer. So don’t be afraid to test them out at your favorite store (I like Sephora for testing tons of colors and brands)!
While it may feel bold, a coral lip can work with many different looks. It seems counterintuitive, but you don’t have to be dressed up to wear a bold lip color. In fact, it would add a gorgeous pop of color to a crisp white tee and boyfriend jeans. Adding a bold lip is the fastest way to dress up any outfit!
Tip: Before you apply any lip color it’s a good idea to exfoliate with a dry toothbrush or even try sugar lip scrub like Bliss Fabulips for a super soft kisser. This will help your lip color last longer and any bright color will only draw attention to any dry skin that’s on your lips.
