Since we kicked off the summer with our big trip to Italy, I’ll be mostly hanging out in Austin for the rest of these dog days. Not that I’m mad about it: to me, the beauty of this season is slower-paced days and weekends with little on the calendar besides swim, sun, and snow cones. Even at home, I’m always looking for ways to channel those vacay vibes however I can – it’s amazing how even dressing for the tropics suddenly makes me feel a little more footloose and fancy-free (reggae music and slushy cocktails help, too!)

Off-the-shoulder tops are way too cute and on-trend to save for vacation. Tailored linen pants and sleek wedges keep this voluminous version from looking too “poolside” and bring it into totally acceptable wear-to-work territory. I love the freshness of an all-white look, and the slightly different hues make it modern.
Instead of layering on the accessories, the bold top was paired with even bolder tassel earrings – this season’s best versions are colorful and shoulder-dusting (and here’s how I style my hair when I wear them.)
The simplicity of the colors and materials keeps the overall look a little bit refined, perfect for work or a lunch date in the city – and the carefree silhouette practically demands that you order a tiki cocktail at happy hour. Those of us who are landlocked this summer have to do what we can!
