Okay, brace yourselves because I am about to drop a doozy of announcement on all of you: I’ve never before owned a pair of ankle booties. I know!!! You should have heard the collective gasp that happened at the Camille Styles office when I revealed that tidbit the other day. There hasn’t been a major reason other than the fact that I’ve always been a knee-high or over-the-knee boot kinda girl, but this year, I decided it was time to take the leap. For our second installment of The Essential Pieces, I went on the hunt for the perfect pair that would add a little edge to casual looks, but still be comfy enough for running around town and carrying me through my book tour travels with ease.
For my first ever step in to the world of ankle booties, I went straight to Sole Society. From stilettos to flats and everything in between, they have an extensive collection of boots to choose from, so the possibilities were endless. I was drawn to the Chelsa for it’s thicker heel and the fun zipper that brought some edge. I always love finding the elusive shoe that is comfortable without compromising style.
Denim leggings are one of the key staples in my wardrobe, and I am also loving adding more scarves into the mix for this fall and winter. I try choosing a neutral color or a classic pattern that is easy to pair with other basics, like this cozy Madewell sweater. Throwing my favorite crisp white boyfriend button down underneath a sweater is also fun for dressing up the look.
The verdict? I’m an ankle bootie convert. Ever since I stepped foot in this pair and realized that they were practically as comfy as a pair of sneakers (but way more fashion-y), I’ve worn them everywhere: on my feet all day at a photo shoot, out to dinner with tights and a dress, and even running to catch a flight.
