This week marks a big milestone. It’s my first week back to styling since having Parker and it’s come with mixed emotions. While I’m already missing her sweet, soft baby snuggles, it has been really satisfying to be back doing what I love and creating looks. Plus, I have to admit it’s been fun to be back out and about shopping and pulling clothes. This look is a version of my uniform this week — cool, summer dress for the hot, summer weather and chunky heels that I can wear all the live long day.

This midi dress is a bit of a departure from my usual shorter ones.  It’s named because the hemline hits at the mid-calf and was a wildly popular style in the 1940s, a decade know for it’s elegance in womenswear.  While the style waned in popularity in coming decades (hello, sixties mini skirts!), it’s been making a come back in the past couple of years.  Swap out your current favorite maxis for midis for a look that’s much fresher.

While my hemlines might be changing, my approach to accessories is still the same; less is more.  A skinny belt, straw hat, gold ring, and a leather bag round out this simple summer day time look. I’m off to finish prepping and counting down the days until I’m back at home with my babe next week!
