We’re so excited to introduce you to our newest guest contributor! Ashley Bailey, owner of The Byrd Collective will be our new voice of floral design, stopping by monthly to share personal projects, inspiration and tips on creating gorgeous arrangements. Thought we’d kick off the series with some beautiful shots (by Karlin Connell Photography) from a southern wedding that Ash styled in Natchez, Mississippi…along with a few reflections on her floral philosophy, after the jump! From Ash: I’m so inspired by locations and have a habit of falling in love with small towns. So I was beyond thrilled to provide my dear friend, Stacie, with creative guidance for her wedding day, held at Dunleith Plantation in charming Natchez, Mississippi.
The moment I saw the large southern mansion sitting atop a lush green hill, I envisioned oatmeal linens, pale blue runners, and white milk glass everywhere. Stacie wanted to stick with whites and creams, buttery yellows, pale blue and a touch of pink for her flowers.
I wanted the flowers to feel as if they were grown somewhere on the plantation and hand-picked from a garden. Since Stacie’s husband, Wheeler, grew up in Natchez and has old family ties to the town, the overall vision was extremely special and personal.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson put it, ‘Earth laughs in flowers,’ and that’s exactly how I see it. Flowers are joyous, and for this particular celebration I had the most wonderful time putting together each and every arrangement.
Thanks Ash – can’t wait to see all the lovely inspiration you’ll bring to the blog in the coming months! And if you haven’t already, hop over to The Byrd Collective’s blog to see all that Ashley’s been up to!
