“For me being daring is wearing what I know will make me feel the most confident, even when it might not be how other people would dress given the same scenario,” says wardrobe stylist Jen Pinkston.
As the founder of The Effortless Chic, Jen has long been one of our go-to sources for fashion advice. “I always end up most in love with my wardrobe when I put blinders on to some degree and really invest in pieces that I gravitate towards,” she says. “When I start seeing something everywhere is when I lose interest,” she laughs. We asked Jen for some ideas on how to take the edge factor up this fall, and she hit us with these five delightfully specific suggestions. Scroll down for Jen’s pro advice, and start making room in your closet for something daring!

Say Yes to Bodysuits
My growing collection of bodysuits is becoming somewhat of a talking point among my inner group of friends, but I can’t stop / won’t stop. They’re super practical to wear with midi skirts or high-waisted denim, which just so happen to be two of my favorite things. It’s an integral part of my daily uniform at this point. This one is hands down my favorite.

Ribbed Knits FTW
As we head into fall, don’t shy away from body-hugging ribbed knits– especially in turtleneck form. They pair with basically everything and definitely give you a more va-va-voom than your average cozy sweater. (Loving this color for fall!)

Animal Print for Days
This is probably one of my favorite trends for fall. It’s much more daring than your average neutral color and just as wearable. Whether you’re finishing off a casual look with a fun pair of cheetah print Golden Goose sneakers or going more glam with a leopard silk slip dress (yes, please!), you can’t go wrong with this trend.

Lace
Lace details are everywhere these days and such a daring way to wear some of your favorite lingerie for both day and night. This lace cami is great on its own or you can juxtapose it with a modest cardigan for day. This lace dress is a total knock-out. Sometimes just a little peek of lace is all you need.

Over the Knee Boots
Nothing says confidence like a woman who can wear a pair of over-the-knee boots in full daylight. Pair them with a long sleeve mini dress oversized sweater and denim shorts for a super fresh look. (I love this color!)
