Ingredients

For the ginger mint simple syrup:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup torn mint leaves
  • 1 inch diced ginger root

For the lemonade:

  • 6 to 7 large lemons
  • 3 cups water
  • lemon slices, for garnish
  • mint leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. To make the simple syrup, combine the water, sugar, mint leaves, and ginger root into a small saucepan over medium high heat. Bring it to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat, cover, and let the mixture steep for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid to separate the ginger and mint from the simple syrup.
  3. Juice the lemons. In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, water, and ginger mint simple syrup. Chill for an hour and serve over ice.
