Lather Up With This Valentine’s Day Bar Soap

February 3rd, 2017

As we were discussing our upcoming Valentine’s Day adventures here at the CS office, we started reminiscing on how much we loved celebrating V-Day when we were kids. We all have memories of decorating a shoebox and having our friends at school stuff it with handmade Valentines. This year we’re helping you get in on the fun with three apothecary inspired DIY projects. While our last two Valentine’s Day DIYs were a bit more complicated, your kiddos can easily give you a hand with this project. Keep reading to stock up on the supplies you’ll need and instructions on how to make a sweet-smelling gift for your “sud muffin!”

Lemon & Grapefruit Citrus Bar Soap

  1. Cut the melt-and-pour soap base into 1 inch blocks. Place in a medium sized bowl.
  2. Zest your lemon and press the pieces in between a paper towel to dry them out. This will keep the lemon pieces from clumping together in your soap.
  3. Place the bowl with the blocks in the microwave and heat in 30 second bursts, stirring between each burst, until the base is fully melted.
  4. Then add in a couple drops of your soap dye and 5 drops of each essential oil and stir. Sprinkle in your lemon zest and stir carefully.
  5. Pour the base into your plastic molds. Let the soap cool for 1 hour and then pop the bars out of the mold.
  6. Print out our “Sud Muffin” labels on card stock and attach to your bar soaps with twine.

For a more transparent bar soap, try using a clear soap base.
