Associate Editor
Camille Styles is looking for an exceptional writer and editor to assist with running the content that appears across our site. The successful candidate will work with the Editor-in-Chief (Camille) to shape and drive the editorial schedule and tone across our channels. The role includes pitching original content ideas, writing stories, and writing for social. The right candidate must be able to plan, commission, write and edit great feature stories as well as manage the daily output of our content. We’re looking for someone with a passion for lifestyle topics including food, design, wellness, and entertaining, and with a strong pulse on current and future trends.
This is a full-time role based in Austin.
What you’ll do:
- Conceive and produce engaging, well-written stories online
- Optimize all content in terms of SEO, social platforms, and engagement
- Pitch feature story ideas on a weekly basis
- Manage, plan and edit content written by our internal team and freelancers
- Review content performance weekly using our analytic tools
- Work with the Editor-in-Chief to build out the monthly calendar
- Work with our brand partners to help create innovative, high-quality branded content
What you have:
- 1 – 2 years of experience in journalism
- Solid understanding of what makes a story relevant, and clicky while also being on brand
- Strong grammar and copy-editing skills, as well as a passion for lifestyle topics like fashion, design, entertaining, and food
- Firsthand experience with publishing in a CMS like WordPress
- Solid understanding of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and provide self-guidance
- A team player, with a resourceful can-do attitude, who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast- paced environment
