The Hottest Spring Lipstick Shades

By Tara Thompson Rasmus
find the perfect red lipstick for your skin type

I can’t believe that I can finally say this, but spring is here—and this season, I’m craving a major overhaul of, well, my entire life. This is the year, my friends, that my life is going to get Kondo-ed from top to bottom, my wardrobe is finally going to get capsule-ed, and my makeup bag is going to get a serious update.

Since becoming a mom (and, actually while I was pregnant), I’ve re-discovered how amazingly transformative lipstick can be. If you’re feeling tired or generally blah (from growing/raising a little person or otherwise), it can be tempting to pile on a bunch of concealer or eyeliner in an attempt to counteract blotchy skin or bleary eyes—but in my experience, these moves can end up just highlighting fatigue more than they detract from it. Instead, I’ve learned to apply just a touch of cover-up, a brow tint, and then slap on a fabulous new lipstick shade. My lips, I reason, don’t give away how tired I am, which is why I’m treating myself to some fabulous new lippies in celebration of spring and new motherhood. Everything from mauve nude to orange to bright berry will look fresh this season—which will you choose?

Volupté Tint-in-Balm by Yves Saint Laurent

This juicy, fresh fuchsia tint is house in a bullet of balm for extra moisturizing power.

Lilac Nymph from Tom Ford

Lilac lipstick is way more wearable than you think—wear with head-to-toe denim for a cheeky, slightly 50’s look.

Dior Addict Lacquer Stick in True Orange

Alive is a true (even obnoxious!) orange, and it’s exactly what I need to finally—finally!—chase away the winter blahs.

Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo in Futurist

This cool crayon in mauve-nude Futurist is exactly what my lippie wardrobe has been missing.

Vice Liquid Lipstick by Urban Decay in Tryst

Sick of your standard red lippie? Take Tryst for a spin, a punchy red-fuschia in a velvety matte finish that will bring some major sass to your sundresses.

Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lipstick in Azalea

A vibrant pink with a nice dose of violet, Azalea is the perfect electric contrast to pastel spring ensembles.
