10 Cute Suitcases You’ll Love to Pack

By Jenn Rose Smith
The first step to being treated better as a traveler? Have great luggage.

There’s a great passage in Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye when Holden Caulfield, the angsty protagonist, is overwhelmed with pity for his roommate for having such terrible luggage. This is me in every airport ever. I’m standing at the bag carousel, watching a sad parade of black nylon roll by, wondering what happened to Americans when it comes to travel. You see, I’m passionate about luggage. I sincerely believe that we’re treated significantly better as a travelers when we look put together. And hey, if we have to collectively suffer the realities of modern day air travel, we might as well look decent doing it. But there’s a light at the end of the baggage claim: luggage manufacturers are finally catching on and we’re seeing a new, well-designed generation of bags available to travelers. Browse our ten favorite here and you may actually look forward to your next airport experience.

Honestly, you made me laugh, but do you really believe you are treated better “if you are put together”? I highly doubt the baggage handlers, the airline agents, customs people, sniffing dogs and other care? Seriously? After just a short flight somewhere, those awfully beautiful pieces of luggage will not look the same, that I guarantee you. Sorry to put a damper on this, but as an experienced world traveler, my good ol’ Samsonites will do just fine.

Buy this luggage and you won’t be able to afford your trip! I agree, the luggage is beautiful but save it for car trips. Does anyone do that any more?? ps-I bought a set of Samantha Brown from HSN (Never shop there) after seeing my friends luggage I knew she spent thousands for. I have never had flight attendants or hotel staff comment on my luggage before but they do with this. AND I can throw it away when it gets ruined without feeling bad.

I’ve been lusting after the Raden carry on for a few weeks now. I love my Delsey luggage that I have had for over 10 years. I have only needed to replace the wheels but they have a lifetime warranty so it was easy to do.

I was just in LAX the other day when my daughter said – “Man, this luggage looks terrible.” Hahaha, she was so right. I tell everyone luggage is an investment you must make as an adult. I even wrote about it! –> http://thehautemommie.com/traveling-like-an-adult/ <– Love the choices you provided!

Man this luggage is dreamy! I do find normal luggage to be boring and sad, but I also can’t imagine spending that much money on something the airport throws around and treats so poorly! If I stop getting back my boring one so beat up, then I’ll be the first in line for that white one with the leather straps!

Travelling from the South of France to Thailand and Australia soon, so on the lookout for something chic and sturdy. Luggage is often forgotten about but it makes such an impression when travelling!
