Shades of Orange

By Chanel Dror

inspired by orange

Growing up in Texas, the color orange — burnt orange specifically — has always been associated with one thing. And while I love my longhorns, I always found it especially difficult to find anything fashionable to wear to a college football game during my time as a student. At the time orange simply wasn’t a color you’d see in a store window or on the runway, so instead we settled to wear our school’s secondary color, white. Then again, that was around 2009. These days, I imagine the girls on campus have endless options when it comes to shopping for school-spirited gear, because right now it seems orange is everywhere.

I’ve fallen for the trend hard, especially when it comes to interiors. I’m currently in the process of redecorating my place, and as I transition from mostly-neutrals to lots-of-color, I’m feeling inspired by all shades of orange — coral, peach, persimmon, rust. It started with this chair, and since then, I’ve been adding pops of the fiery hue to my apartment with the addition of these velvet pillows to my bed, and this dramatic daybed to my living room. I know there’s such a thing as too much of a good thing, but for now, I can’t get enough! Anyone else?
