They say it takes a village to raise a child – and in my experience, it also takes a village to throw a baby shower! Luckily as one of Austin’s most sought after wedding planners, Emily Leach has friends in all the right places. When she announced she was pregnant with her little boy Levi back in August, all of her friends in the event planning industry (including me!) couldn’t wait to throw her a baby shower worthy of her design expertise. I teamed up with some of Emily’s closest friends, who also happen to be some of the most creative gals in town, to put together this colorful, boho baby shower. Pull up a morrocan pouf, grab yourself a slice of chocolate cake, and raise a glass to this stylish mom-to-be!
One of Emily’s longtime friends Lauren Cunningham designed these fun invitations that we sent out to guests via snail mail. The design was based on the folk art vibe of Emily’s wedding invitations from a few years back with a more muted color palette.
The girls at Loot Vintage Rentals opened up their showroom to host the shindig. They created lounge areas and seating nooks throughout the space so guests could relax and catch up with one another.
As guests arrived, we encouraged them to take a selfie with an Instax camera and tape it in the guestbook with washi tape. We had a rainbow of gel pens on hand for girls to write well wishes.
Florists Valerie Wolf and Sarah Reichardt collaborated on this project by creating these amazing floral arrangements. They used a mixture of colorful, in-sesason blooms and foraged greenery from around their neighborhoods.
A plush, blue velvet chair was designated as Emily’s seat for opening gifts. We made sure there was plenty of space nearby for big boxes, even bigger bags, and lots of tissue paper!
Behind the bar, The Peached Tortilla whipped up a signature cocktail as girly as the guest list. We sipped on Stone Roses, which is a combination of black tea infused vodka, lime juice, rose water, and honey, topped with a red rose petal.
We raided through Loot’s inventory to pick out the perfect furniture and decor details for our bohemian mom-to-be. The combination of textures in this leather butterfly chair, sheepskin throw, and wool kilim pillow had us feeling soooo 70s.
We can’t get enough of these gorgeous floral arrangements! Valerie and Sarah used vases from Emily’s personal collection so she could take home these beautiful anemones and zinnias at the end of the party.
Guests munched on three mouthwatering appetizers – asian pear bites with blue cheese mascarpone, honey and pecans; beef bulgogi meatballs with a Korean barbecue glaze and green onions; and southwestern mac and cheese shooters with panko encrusted green chili and pimento cheese.
We made sure to have plenty nonalcoholic drink options on hand so that all the moms-to-be and kiddos in attendance still felt like they were a part of the party. The Peached Tortilla served up iced tea, cucumber and mint infused water, and a delicious thai basil lemonade.
Emily’s one request of the baby shower was a decadent chocolate cake. Our favorite bakery Green Lily produced this gorgeous painted cake that was full of rich, chocolate-y goodness.

It’s no secret that Emily and her husband Matt are super proud of their traditional German heritage. Levi’s middle name is Wurzbach, which has been passed down through Emily’s family for years. This mini lederhosen was the perfect gift for baby Levi!
