Spring has sprung, and I couldn’t be more excited! This season always fills me with a sense of fresh beginnings, and this year is no exception. It feels like so many women I know are expecting or have new little ones in their households. When I was a baby, my mom decked out my nursery in Peter Rabbit decor, so when Louisiana-based event planner Angela DiVincenti shared this baby shower she designed for her sister, it hit a soft spot with me. From the handpainted watercolor invitations, to the jars of pickled veggies guests could take home as favors, every detail of this party put an extra spring into our step. “I love an organic feel for my events, so this theme was on point. We planted fresh flowers in my grandfather’s old wheelbarrow to greet guests as they walked to the front door. We had baskets of flowers and vegetables on my double doors, and a Peter Rabbit book inside waiting for guests to write sweet messages for baby Luke.”
“My talented friend Rachael Lagarde Walker created these watercolor invitations featuring her beautiful handwriting and a portrait of Peter Rabbit. Guests received the invitation and a simple wreath of carrot leaves in their mailbox!”
“To decorate our welcome table, I sourced this bunny lamp from Pottery Barn, the cutest blocks from Etsy, and a vintage Peter Rabbit toy.”
“Our entryway wouldn’t have been complete without old shutters, wild greenery, watercolored vegetable cutouts, and a sweet welcome sign.”
“The dessert table was definitely a showstopper. We served up a freshly baked cake, hand-decorated cupcakes, painted cookies, and homemade ice cream, which is a family tradition.”
“Adorn Cake Designs made the perfect fondant Peter Rabbit with his shovel and veggies to top our cake from Ambrosia Bakery.”
“I created a garden of food with the use of a white fence my husband constructed, gorgeous flowers from Poppy & Mint Floral, and cabbage dripping out of Mr. McGregor’s wheelbarrow.”
“My mother and I made almost all of the food ourselves, but Louisiana Bayou Bistro gave us a hand with the marinated veggies, shrimp cocktail, and tomato bruschetta. We also served up an orzo salad, watermelon and feta kabobs, and a delicious blueberry brie.”
“We used small terracotta pots filled with moss as food labels that mimicked garden herb markers.”

“As guests left, they were able to choose a sweet or salty treat from the “farmer’s market” I created in my hutch. Silly Gilly Desserts made veggie-shaped cookies that I placed in small berry baskets, and I tagged jars of pickled veggies with custom tags created by Rachael.”
