Most of us know by now that protecting our skin from getting too much sun is the greatest thing we can do to keep our skin youthful and healthy – especially when it comes to our face! Not only does sunscreen protect against premature signs of aging, it helps more serious issues like skin cancer.

The drawback is that most sunscreens are loaded with ingredients that aren’t exactly safe. This past February, the FDA released a statement claiming that only two of the sixteen common active ingredients in sunscreen—zinc oxide and titanium dioxide—were “Generally Recognized as Safe and Effective.” Most sunscreens use Oxybenzone, a hormone-disrupting chemical that comes with links to skin cancer (ironically), breast cancer, eczema, allergic reactions and more. Traditional sunscreens have also been linked to causing damage to the ocean’s coral reefs. Not pretty stuff.

Thankfully, minerals zinc oxide and titanium dioxide do an excellent job at protecting your sensitive skin from the sun’s rays.

Gone are the days when a swipe of mineral sunscreen leaves your face with clogged pores and a ghostly white cast for the rest of the day. The below natural sunscreens are formulated with high quality ingredients that blend seamlessly into skin and won’t break you out!

Pro tip: make sure you exfoliate after a day in the sun reapplying sunscreen – it will remove any build up and do double duty to help keep breakouts at bay.

    Supergoop setting spray is great!
Not oily at all (just close your mouth and hold your breath when spraying).
I sat outside in the sun and my arms got red but my face was sunkissed, not red at all and looked great – I had applied a 50 spf natural zinc to my arms and some on my face over my bb cream (low spf and likely expired oopa) and I set my face with the Supergoop just before going outside. Highly recommend for everyday use, not just sun esp if you already use a makeup setting spray – this is a smarter swap.
