If you’re ever stuck in a closet rut, you don’t always need a shopping spree. Sometimes you just need statement jewelry.
This season’s statement jewelry trend is all about letting one or two substantial pieces do the talking, bringing new life to the clothes you already own. A simple sweater-and-jeans outfit can feel like a different outfit entirely with a sculptural earring or an oversized necklace. The smallest styling change often makes the biggest difference.
The best part about jewelry is that it can—and should—be collected, worn for years, and tell a story. Unlike sweaters that pill or jeans that rip, jewelry holds up when it’s cared for. A necklace from a birthday, a brooch that belonged to your grandmother, the earrings you wore to prom: These pieces carry memories along with them. The statement jewelry trend doesn’t just transform a basic outfit; the right piece can also start a conversation.
How to Style the Statement Jewelry Trend
Pull from your fall capsule wardrobe and let the jewelry do the rest. Start with a simple base, like a sweater and jeans, a Canadian tuxedo, or a monochrome top and trousers, then layer on from there. With the statement jewelry trend, more is more, so don’t be afraid to pile it on.
My go-to trick is to think about jewelry in halves: one piece for the top half of your body and one for the bottom. The top half is necklaces and earrings, and the bottom half is rings and bracelets. Pair a statement earring with a statement bracelet, or a bold necklace with a cocktail ring. It keeps the look intentional while giving every piece room to shine, which is how you pile it on without overdoing it.
Statement Necklaces
Statement necklaces are an immediate eye-catcher, especially with pieces that give them plenty of room to stand out. Try a bold necklace with a white tee, a V-neck sweater, or a strapless silhouette. A big, beaded necklace is one of my favorite ways to bring color into an otherwise simple outfit, and a necklace with a large metal plate, pendant, or emblem can make even the most basic top look styled. I lean on this trick when I travel: a shell necklace turns any outfit into resortwear.
And statement doesn’t have to mean chunky. Layering several delicate necklaces creates the same visual impact as one oversized piece. Mix lengths and textures so the look feels collected, not perfectly coordinated.
Statement Earrings
I like to think of earrings as a way to frame your face. When your hair is pulled back, almost any mid-sized gold or silver earring is going to have a moment. With your hair down, I love going bigger or choosing a brighter color so the earrings peek through and add a little something extra.
Sculptural earrings make an outfit feel modern and fashion-forward, while vintage-inspired styles, especially pearls, create a softer effect. If you have multiple piercings, play with scale: I’ll often wear a longer earring in my second hole and keep the first simple with a small huggie. It’s an easy way to embrace the statement jewelry trend without making every piece compete for attention.

Statement Bracelets
Bangles and cuffs are some of the easiest ways to add a statement piece to an outfit you already have. I love styling a chunky bangle over the sleeve of a sweater: It adds interest and keeps the sleeve scrunched up exactly where you want it.
Cuffs are another great option for short-sleeve tops and dresses, and beaded bracelets are an easy way to introduce color. You can also layer several bracelets together, mixing metals, textures, and sizes, so the result feels collected over time and not overly matched.

Statement Brooches
My favorite take on the statement jewelry trend might be the brooch. A great brooch adds personality and interest to an outfit in a way that feels distinctly yours, and I love finding mine at vintage stores. You can absolutely source them new, too, but the beauty of a brooch is that it doesn’t have to look brand-new to feel special.
Try pinning one to a blazer lapel, a sweater collar, or a denim jacket. Just be thoughtful about the fabric: Knits, denim, and cotton can generally bounce back from the tiny holes a brooch makes, while delicate fabrics like silk are less forgiving. When in doubt, save your most treasured brooches for sturdier pieces.

Statement Rings
Rings are perhaps the most subtle way to embrace the statement jewelry trend, but they can still completely change the feel of an outfit. A cocktail ring can dress up a simple sweater in seconds, while a resin gumball ring adds a playful pop of color. Mixed-metal stacks feel more personal and eclectic, especially when you combine pieces you’ve collected over time.
As with necklaces, you don’t need one giant ring to make an impact. Stacking several delicate rings can make just as much of a statement as a single oversized piece. Try mixing metals, textures, and silhouettes until you land on a combination that feels like you.

So pile it on, but do it your way. Start with one bold piece, see what it does for the outfit, and add from there until it feels like you.
