As a born-and-raised Texan who refused to wear shoes, brush my hair, or take off my bathing suit from May-August, my dog days of summer were spent skipping rocks by the river, cliff-jumping into the lake, or helping Dad on his never-ending quest to find the best surf break the Gulf coast had to offer. Texas transplants quickly learn that the only way to beat these lingering triple-digit temps is through water, and while I’ll gladly submerge myself in any pool of water I can find throughout the summer, nothing compares to a day spent splashing around one of Mother Nature’s playgrounds. All dressed up with sparkling turquoise water, vibrant greenery, and fairytale-esque views—the best pools are without a doubt the swimming holes created by nature itself.

From Hawaii to Italy and everywhere in between, here’s ten amazing natural swimming holes that will make you want to drop everything and book a plane ticket. Better start practicing your swan dive.

Oh wow these all look amazing! I can’t believe we didn’t go to the Figure 8 Pools when we were in Australia. At least this gives us (another) reason to go back!!

These look incredible! Have you checked out the pools at Bronte Beach in Sydney or Ein Gedi in Israel?

Saving this one, but also wanted to add a beautiful spot in Oman. We did a fabulous mother-daughter trip to Abu Dhabi, Oman and Dubai in February. The Bimmah sinkhole outside of Muscat is not to be missed! From camping in the desert with the Bedouin tribes to the incredible lodging at Alila Al Jabar, Oman is not to be missed! The people of that country are some of the warmest and most hospitable we’ve ever met. I need to catch up on my photo posts, but have a few on my IG (I’m NOT a social influencer or aspire to get more followers…I just sincerely love to share travel tips and experiences)!
