After 3 hectic days of packing and unpacking, coordinating, heavy lifting, and way more organizing than I’ve ever done…we’re finally settled into the new home that we’ve been building for almost 2 years. Last week I asked if y’all would be interested in walking through the process of decorating with me over the next couple months, so (since the response was a resounding YES!) I thought I’d share a few of the “before” pictures with all of you to get things started…
Without a doubt, one of my favorite elements of the new place is the abundance of light. Great steel doors and big windows were two things we knew we wanted to invest in, and I’m so excited to have a workspace that’s flooded with sunshine all day. I have lots of ideas for how I want to decorate the space, so I’m going to need some major opinions and sourcing from all of you design experts!
One thing we knew from the beginning was that we wanted a super open outdoor-indoor flow so that enjoying the natural surroundings could be part of our daily lives. In the 3 days that we’ve been living here, I’ve eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner out on this terrace…and am currently typing away here, as well. 🙂
Our upholstered bed arrived yesterday and looks amazing in the space…but I still have to choose nightstands & lamps, and figure out what exactly I want to put in the big cutout window. Any thoughts? Two chairs with an end table? A comfy, low-profile chaise lounge?
After living in a tiny 1930’s bungalow with zero closet space for the last couple years, I feel like I’ve died and gone to heaven with this major walk-in. Can’t wait to start getting it together, and I’d love to hear all of your organizing tips and tricks! Lots more pics to come as I start filling the rooms with furniture and hanging art on the walls…but for now, I think it’s time for a glass of lemonade by the pool to gear up for an afternoon of more unpacking!
